Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, today inspected the newly constructed Alakija Bridge following a viral video showing suspected vandals attempting to damage part of the bridge.
The Governor commended security operatives from the Lagos State Police Command, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KORRECT), Task Force and Neighbourhood Watch for promptly raising the alarm, securing the area and making arrests.
Governor Sanwo-Olu assured Lagosians that the structural integrity of the bridge remains intact and there is no cause for alarm.
He disclosed that some of the suspected vandals have been arrested, while others remain at large, stressing that the state government will continue to enforce the law against vandalism across Lagos.
The Governor also noted that the ongoing clean-up of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway corridor has significantly improved its appearance, assuring residents that the exercise will continue.
