Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has presented Lagos as a strategic gateway for global investment into Africa, calling for stronger international partnerships to translate the continent’s growing economic attention into tangible opportunities.
Sanwo-Olu made the call at the Global Africa Business Initiative’s Unstoppable Africa 2026 in New York, where global business leaders, investors, policymakers and government officials gathered to discuss pathways for scaling African economies and businesses.
The Governor highlighted Lagos’ large population, expanding market, infrastructure needs and strong entrepreneurial base as key opportunities for investors, while emphasising the need for investments that deliver practical benefits in areas such as infrastructure, transportation, healthcare and enterprise development.
He also reaffirmed Lagos’ openness to international capital, strategic partnerships and private-sector participation, stressing the importance of creating measurable economic value and opportunities for residents.
The engagement builds on the Lagos State Government’s Invest Lagos initiative, following the Invest Lagos 3.0 summit held in June under the theme, “Lagos: The Business Gateway to Africa.”
Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada-Ambrose Medebem, said the Ministry would continue to connect global investors with opportunities across key sectors, including manufacturing, technology, trade, energy, finance, agriculture, real estate and the creative economy.
