Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has urged the 1,000 beneficiaries of the Graduate Internship Placement Programme (GIPP) to maximise the opportunity by gaining practical experience, building professional networks and developing the skills needed for long-term career success.
Speaking at the GIPP onboarding ceremony held at the De-Blue Roof, LTV Complex, Agidingbi, Ikeja, the Governor, represented by the Chairman of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas, said the programme was designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and workplace experience.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed that over 8,000 young Lagosians have benefited from the programme, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to youth employment, skills development and economic empowerment.
He charged the beneficiaries to be punctual, disciplined, innovative and willing to learn, urging them to bring value to their respective organisations.
“Learn. Ask questions. Be punctual. Be disciplined. Be innovative. Wherever you are placed, bring value,” he said.
The Governor also called for stronger collaboration between government, private-sector organisations and development partners to expand internship, mentorship and career development opportunities for young graduates.
