Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) to sustain its efforts in promoting professionalism and excellence in Nigeria’s human resource sector.
Speaking at the CIPM CEO/CHRO/HRD Forum in Victoria Island, Lagos, the governor, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, commended the institute for its expanding global partnerships with professional bodies in the United Kingdom and Canada, describing them as a testament to the growing international recognition of Nigerian HR professionals.
Addressing the forum’s theme, “Refocusing Diversity and Inclusion in the Organisation: The CEO and HR’s Perspectives,” Sanwo-Olu said organisations must move beyond policy declarations by implementing equitable recruitment, fair career progression and inclusive decision-making practices.
The governor highlighted Lagos State’s commitment to diversity through policies that promote equal opportunities, protect the rights of persons with disabilities and expand access to employment and enterprise for people of all genders and backgrounds.
He stressed that businesses that embrace diversity and inclusion are better positioned to drive innovation, improve productivity and achieve sustainable growth.
Sanwo-Olu also commended CIPM for providing a platform for strategic dialogue on workplace development, expressing confidence that the forum’s resolutions would strengthen organisational culture and advance human capital development across Nigeria.
