The Senate has launched an investigation into a suspected resurgence of COVID-19 in Nigeria, directing its Committee on Health to verify reports of a confirmed case in the country.

According to available information, the Cross River State Ministry of Health has begun contact tracing and profiling individuals linked to a Chinese national who reportedly tested positive for the virus.

The State Commissioner for Health, Henry Ayuk, stated that this marks the first notable case recorded in Cross River since 2022, adding that authorities are stepping up efforts to prevent further spread.
