Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 69th Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima will join regional leaders, policymakers, and business executives at the summit taking place at the Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre.
The summit is expected to deliberate on key policy issues and adopt strategic resolutions aimed at strengthening peace, security, democratic governance, economic growth, regional integration, trade, infrastructure, and sustainable development across West Africa.
As part of the ECOWAS mid-year statutory meeting, the gathering will bring together Heads of State and Government, ministers, senior government officials, and regional institutions to advance the bloc’s shared priorities and deepen cooperation in addressing emerging political and economic challenges.
Vice President Shettima is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his engagements at the summit.
