Vice President Kashim Shettima has announced plans to mark his 60th birthday with a low-key celebration, urging friends, associates and well-wishers to refrain from placing congratulatory advertisements or organising public events in his honour.
Shettima, who will turn 60 on September 2, 2026, made the appeal in a statement issued on Saturday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha.
According to the statement, the Vice President’s decision is aimed at keeping public attention focused on national development rather than personal celebrations.
Shettima expressed appreciation to Nigerians and his supporters for their goodwill, while encouraging them to channel their attention and resources towards initiatives that contribute to the progress and development of the country.
