The Sokoto State Government has declared Friday, July 24, 2026, a work-free day to enable eligible civil servants to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu said the move is aimed at giving workers enough time to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections. He urged all eligible civil servants and residents yet to register to take advantage of the exercise before it closes on July 26, stressing that the PVC is the only legal means of voting.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting civic participation and ensuring citizens can exercise their democratic rights.
