The Anambra State Government has approved a ₦200 billion capital base for the Anambra Development and Investment Corporation (ADIC) as part of efforts to boost investment, strengthen the economy, and accelerate development across the state.
The decision was reached during the fourth meeting of the Anambra State Executive Council held at the Government House, Awka, on June 29, 2026, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Law Mefor.
The state government said it will contribute up to 30 per cent of the total capital, while also transferring identified key state assets to the investment corporation to enhance its operations and attractiveness to investors.
The Council explained that ADIC will serve as a public-private partnership platform designed to mobilise funds for infrastructure and economic development projects across the state.
Mefor noted that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo also reaffirmed a state of emergency on the environment due to widespread degradation, announcing plans for a statewide desilting and waste evacuation exercise.
As part of the initiative, a temporary restriction of movement will be enforced on Saturday, July 4, 2026, between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., to allow for environmental sanitation activities.
Exemptions will apply to essential services including security agencies, health workers, emergency responders, journalists, and fire service personnel.
The government also approved the launch of the Solution Innovation District (SID) programme, including the Code Anambra Talents Mastery Cohort 2, aimed at developing digital skills and supporting innovation among young people.
In addition, ₦315.46 million was approved for the restoration of electricity supply to parts of Uli community and the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli campus.
The government said the investments form part of its broader strategy to position Anambra as a hub for innovation, environmental sustainability, and economic growth.
