World Cup champions Spain have reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the latest FIFA World Rankings, displacing Argentinaafter their 1-0 victory in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
The latest rankings, released on Monday, see Argentina drop to second, while France remain third despite their defeat to England in the third-place playoff. England retain fourth place following their impressive World Cup campaign.
Elsewhere, Brazil climbed to fifth and Morocco moved up to sixth, overtaking Portugal, who slipped to seventh after their Round of 16 exit.
Belgium rose to eighth ahead of the Netherlands in ninth, while co-hosts Mexico returned to the top 10 for the first time since 2022 after climbing four places. Germany, meanwhile, dropped to 12th following their World Cup exit to Paraguay.
Among the tournament’s biggest movers were Switzerland, who climbed five places to 14th after reaching the quarter-finals, and Norway, who surged 12 places to 19th following their impressive run to the last eight.
