Spain’s newly crowned 2026 FIFA World Cup champions are set to receive a spectacular heroes’ welcome in Madrid, where an estimated one million fans are expected to celebrate the team’s historic triumph.
Fresh from their 1-0 victory over Argentina in the World Cup final in the United States, Luis de la Fuente’s squad is scheduled to arrive in Madrid on Monday before being officially received by King Felipe VI and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
The celebrations will continue with an open-top bus parade through the Spanish capital, culminating in a ceremony at the iconic Cibeles Square, the traditional venue for national football celebrations.
Authorities have deployed over 2,400 security personnel, including 2,050 police officers and 400 Civil Guard officers, to manage the massive crowds expected along the parade route.
Spain’s victory has sparked nationwide celebrations, with jubilant supporters filling streets and public squares across the country, chanting “¡Campeones!” and waving the national flag.
The triumph marks Spain’s second FIFA World Cup title, coming 16 years after their maiden success in South Africa in 2010, and adds to an impressive era that also includes the UEFA Euro 2024 crown and the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup title.
