Stakeholders have called for stronger collaboration between the Federal Government and private sector to accelerate cancer prevention and improve access to care across Nigeria.
The call was made at a policy roundtable in Abuja focused on accelerating cervical cancer elimination through stronger institutional coordination, expanded HPV vaccination and innovative healthcare financing.
The National Primary Health Care Development Agency said more than 18 million girls had received HPV vaccination as of September, representing about 76 per cent of the target.
Health officials, however, identified low awareness, late diagnosis, affordability and limited access to quality care as major challenges to cancer prevention and treatment.
Stakeholders urged greater private sector participation to complement government efforts in vaccination, screening, treatment and public awareness.
