The Super Falcons are expected to have a new technical crew in place before resuming their 2028 Women’s Olympic qualifying campaign in October, Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, has hinted.
The development follows the Nigeria Football Federation’s decision on Monday to ask the technical crew, led by coach Justine Madugu, to step down after the team’s disappointing outing at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Nigeria suffered their earliest-ever exit from the tournament after losing 1-0 to Cameroon in the quarter-finals.
The defeat also affected the Falcons’ chances of securing automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, before a 2-1 loss to South Africa in the CAF play-off ended their hopes.
Other members of the technical crew affected by the decision include former Super Falcons goalkeeper Ann Chiejine, goalkeeper coach Auwal Makwalla, Swedish video analyst Igor Krulj and fitness coach Per Karlsson.
The NFF is now expected to begin the process of putting a new technical team in place ahead of the Falcons’ return to Olympic qualifying action in October.
