Suspected terrorists have attacked the busy Isanlu–Isin–Omu Aran highway in Kwara State, abducting at least four travellers in the early hours of Monday.
The attack reportedly occurred when armed men ambushed motorists along the highway, a major route connecting several communities in Kwara South to the state capital, Ilorin. Witnesses said the assailants operated unchallenged, forcing vehicles to stop before abducting passengers and taking them to an unknown location.
A source familiar with the incident disclosed that the attackers remain active in the area and are deliberately targeting travellers heading towards Ilorin.
“Bandits are still heavily present in the area and are actively targeting travellers moving towards Ilorin,” the source said.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement confirming the attack or outlining measures being taken to rescue the abducted victims.
The incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity in Kwara State, which has witnessed a rise in kidnapping and violent attacks in recent months. On November 18, 2025, gunmen attacked a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku during a midweek service, killing three worshippers and abducting 38 others, including the pastor. Although the victims were later released, such attacks have continued to fuel fear and uncertainty across the North-Central state.
Residents and commuters have renewed calls on security agencies to intensify patrols and restore safety along major highways in the state.
