The leadership of the National Assembly members is being sued by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) for allegedly increasing the operating expenses of legislators. Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Senate President Godswill Akpabio joined the lawsuit. “The unlawful practice of the National Assembly of establishing its allowances and running costs, and the failure to account for the monthly running costs provided to members,” according to the group, was not addressed by the two. Deputy Director of SERAP Kolawole Oluwadare revealed this in a Friday statement stating that the lawsuit was submitted to the Federal High Court in Abuja last Friday.
