The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Benin Region, has announced a scheduled 10-hour power outage affecting parts of Ondo State on Tuesday, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
According to a statement issued by TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the outage is required to enable engineers carry out critical maintenance and transmission line reconfiguration works at the Ondo 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
She explained that the exercise involves transferring the Ife–Ondo 132kV transmission line from the proposed Omotosho–Ondo 132kV line bay to the Ife–Ondo 132kV line bay.
Mbah added that the commissioning of a newly installed 60MVA 132/33kV transformer will also be carried out simultaneously at the substation.
Due to the planned works, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will be unable to supply electricity to customers in Okitipupa and Ondo Town during the maintenance window.
TCN apologised for the inconvenience and appealed for the understanding of affected customers, noting that the upgrade is aimed at improving power reliability and overall system efficiency in the region.
