The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned electricity outage that will affect parts of Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Bauchi, and Yobe States, as well as Gazaoua in the Niger Republic, due to scheduled maintenance work.
In a statement issued on Saturday by TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah, the outage is tied to maintenance activities at the Kumbotso 330kV transmission substation, set to take place on Sunday.
The planned work is part of an ongoing upgrade involving the replacement of 330kV bus II jumpers and the installation of 800mm² conductors to strengthen the transmission network and improve power reliability across the affected regions.
According to TCN, electricity distribution companies including Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), parts of Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC), and Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) will be unable to receive bulk power during the maintenance period.
As a result, customers in affected areas such as Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Azare in Bauchi State, Nguru in Yobe State, and Gazaoua in the Niger Republic will experience temporary power disruption.
TCN assured that the maintenance exercise is necessary to enhance long-term grid stability and improve overall electricity supply reliability.
