The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned power outage affecting parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as it carries out preventive maintenance at the Katampe 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
In a statement issued on Saturday, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, said the maintenance exercise will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
According to her, the scheduled work will enable TCN engineers to carry out preventive maintenance on the 100 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) 132/33kV Power Transformer (TR1), its auxiliary equipment, and associated switchgear at the substation.
As a result of the maintenance, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will temporarily be unable to receive bulk power for distribution to customers in several parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
Areas expected to be affected include Mpape, Maitama, Jahi, Life Camp, Kado Fish Market, Idu-Karmo, and surrounding communities.
TCN apologised for the temporary inconvenience the planned outage may cause residents and businesses in the affected locations.
The company explained that routine preventive maintenance is essential to ensure the continued efficiency, reliability, and optimal performance of critical power infrastructure.
Residents in the affected areas have been advised to make adequate arrangements ahead of the scheduled maintenance period.
