The Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere has unveiled a new natural grass pitch as part of ongoing upgrades to sports facilities across Lagos State.
The former artificial turf has been replaced with a high-quality natural grass surface designed to meet international standards. The pitch features four sub-surface drainage layers, with an additional layer spaced at 1.5-metre intervals to improve water drainage and help prevent flooding.
The upgraded stadium is expected to host major sporting events, including the inaugural National Intermediate Games scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
The development is part of the Lagos State Government’s efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure and support sports as a driver of economic and social development.
