President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, to present Nigerians with an update on the progress and impact of the administration’s economic reforms since 2023.
The President announced the Federal Government’s “Reforms Scorecard”, an initiative designed to provide Nigerians with details of the achievements, costs and challenges associated with the reforms.
Tinubu said the scorecard would also highlight the economic costs and potential setbacks the government believes have been avoided through its policy decisions.
He recalled that when his administration introduced the reforms in 2023, he promised that the difficult measures would ultimately help build a stronger economy and create a better future for Nigerians.
The President stressed the importance of transparency, saying citizens deserve to understand the rationale behind the government’s decisions and the results achieved so far.
Tinubu specifically tasked Oyedele with explaining the figures behind the reforms, the policy choices made by the administration, the progress recorded and the challenges that remain.
The initiative is expected to give Nigerians a clearer assessment of the government’s economic policies and their impact on the country.
