President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on public institutions, the private sector, civil society organisations and faith-based groups to work closely with government in building a united and prosperous Nigeria, saying sustainable national development requires collective effort.
The President made the appeal during the commissioning of the new National Headquarters of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria in Surulere, Lagos, on Saturday.
Represented by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, Tinubu said governments alone cannot achieve the nation’s aspirations, stressing that the Nigeria of the future depends on the shared commitment of institutions, organisations and citizens.
He urged stakeholders to contribute their expertise, resources and influence towards strengthening education, promoting good governance, fostering national unity and accelerating socio-economic development.
The President also commended the Okunnu family and the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society for their longstanding contributions to national development, describing the organisation as a trusted partner that has, for over a century, made significant impacts in education, healthcare, humanitarian services, moral development and community service.
Speaking at the event, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, urged Nigerians to uphold the country’s core values, noting that integrity, discipline, patriotism and mutual respect are essential for national unity and sustainable development.
Hamzat warned that no nation can thrive without a strong moral foundation and called on citizens to preserve these values and pass them on to future generations.
In his goodwill message, the Grand Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Sulaimon Abdul-Noulla, praised the widespread presence of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society across Lagos State, highlighting its investments in education, healthcare and community development.
Earlier, the National President of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Prince Mosediq Adeniji Kazeem (SAN), reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to partnering with the Federal Government in promoting national development through quality education, character building, humanitarian services and selfless service to humanity.
Kazeem described the newly commissioned headquarters, named after the late Alhaja Hassanat Abebi Okunnu, as a symbol of the Society’s renewed commitment to strengthening its institutions and expanding its impact across Nigeria.
