President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday received Madagascar’s President, Colonel Michael Randrianirina, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja during an official visit to Nigeria.
The meeting marks a diplomatic engagement between the two African leaders as both countries seek to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
President Randrianirina assumed office in October 2025 following a military takeover in Madagascar that led to the departure of former president Andry Rajoelina. The army colonel, who led the CAPSAT military unit during the uprising, was sworn in shortly after the transition of power.
Details of the discussions between President Tinubu and his Madagascan counterpart were not immediately disclosed, but the visit underscores growing diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Madagascar.
