President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday swore in Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs at a ceremony held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The brief event was attended by family members of the new ministers, senior government officials, and aides of the President.
Their appointments follow the resignations of former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue political ambitions. Both nominees were subsequently cleared by the Senate on May 6, 2026.
Tegbe, an accomplished fiscal and economic reform strategist, brings over three decades of experience across the public and private sectors. A First Class Civil Engineering graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, he has held leadership positions at KPMG Africa and played key roles in major government reform initiatives and policy development programmes.
Enikanolaiye, a seasoned diplomat from Kogi State, has over 35 years of experience in Nigeria’s foreign service. He served in diplomatic missions across Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and India, where he was Nigeria’s Head of Mission in New Delhi. Prior to his ministerial appointment, he served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
The appointments are expected to strengthen the administration’s efforts in the power sector and Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement on the global stage.
