President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to officially unveil the ₦2.4 trillion Abuja City Walk project on Thursday, marking the commencement of construction on one of Nigeria’s most ambitious mixed-use urban developments.
The 250-hectare project, located along the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport corridor in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is being developed by MAG Group in partnership with Link Developments.
The launch ceremony, scheduled to hold from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Plot 28, Cadastral Zone C17, Industrial Area II, Abuja, is expected to attract government officials, investors, and international stakeholders.
As part of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed with Saudi royal Prince Khalid bin Saud bin Khalid bin Turki Al Saud, who is also expected to address prospective investors.
The Nigeria-Arab Gulf Chamber of Commerce will also deliver remarks, highlighting increasing investment interest from Gulf nations in Nigeria’s real estate sector.
Situated within a designated Free Trade Zone, the Abuja City Walk project is designed to attract long-term foreign investment through tax incentives and a business-friendly regulatory framework.
Designed by renowned international architecture firm Benoy, the master plan features a 450-metre skyscraper, projected to become Africa’s tallest building, alongside offices, luxury residences and hospitality facilities.
Other key features include a 13,000-seat indoor sports and entertainment arena, an arts district with 12,000 square metres of exhibition and performance spaces, and The Living Ravine, an ecological corridor designed to promote flood control, rainwater harvesting and climate resilience. The sustainability project has already been shortlisted for the 2026 World Landscape Architecture Awards.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, said the land, previously allocated to the Abuja Technology Village but left undeveloped for more than two decades, was recovered under the administration’s reform programme.
According to Wike, the project aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, with the potential to boost investment, create jobs and transform Abuja into a world-class urban destination.
He noted that the development draws inspiration from Dubai’s City Walk, expressing confidence that it will become a major landmark and economic hub in Nigeria’s capital.
