President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on the promises of his administration, insisting that the economic reforms introduced under the Renewed Hope Agenda are laying the foundation for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the inauguration of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movementexecutives in Abuja, the President said he would not betray the trust Nigerians placed in him and urged members of the grassroots mobilisation initiative to engage citizens with honesty, respect, and facts.
Tinubu described the movement as a platform for taking the Renewed Hope agenda directly to communities across the country, stressing that meaningful political engagement begins at the grassroots through dialogue, listening, and service.
Defending key reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy, the unification of the foreign exchange market, and tax reforms, the President acknowledged that the policies required sacrifice but maintained they were necessary to secure long-term economic growth, improved governance, and greater opportunities for future generations.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised the administration’s reforms, stating that monthly allocations to the three tiers of government have increased from less than ₦700 billion to over ₦2 trillion, while arguing that the policies have strengthened state finances and reduced dependence on oil revenue.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, also commended the reforms, describing them as bold decisions taken in the national interest. He urged members of the movement to promote issue-based campaigns, listen to citizens’ concerns, and encourage peaceful democratic participation ahead of the 2027 elections.
APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, called on members of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement to take the administration’s achievements to every community, saying elections are won through direct engagement with the people rather than social media or television appearances.
He highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, tax reforms, the student loan scheme, rail development, and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as evidence of the administration’s commitment to national development and economic recovery.
The event also featured the inauguration of the movement’s National Executive Committee, the unveiling of operational buses for officials across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as cultural performances and presentations showcasing the administration’s achievements.
