The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has hosted 10 participants of the Lagos State Public Service Accelerator Programme (PSAP) for a mentorship and knowledge-sharing session focused on leadership, administration and excellence in public service.
The engagement, held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Ministry’s Conference Room in Alausa, Ikeja, was hosted by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, as part of PSAP’s structured mentorship programme across Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Lagos State Government.
Oyekan-Ismaila commended the State Government for introducing the programme, describing it as a strategic investment in developing a new generation of public servants capable of providing innovative solutions to emerging governance challenges. She urged the participants to uphold values including discipline, integrity, professionalism, hard work, loyalty and commitment.
The Permanent Secretary also stressed the importance of humility, mutual respect, collaboration and continuous learning, noting that effective public service requires more than technical competence. She encouraged the Accelerators to embrace innovation and technology while applying the knowledge gained through PSAP to improve processes and develop practical solutions within their respective MDAs.
Sharing insights from her professional journey, including her transition from the banking sector to public service, Oyekan-Ismaila advised the participants to view every stage of their careers as an opportunity for growth. She emphasised that effective leadership is built through experience, discipline, integrity, continuous learning and a commitment to serving others.
She further charged the participants to remain good ambassadors of the Lagos State Public Service, noting that their conduct and professionalism would help strengthen public confidence in government. The PSAP mentorship session provided practical perspectives on leadership, institutional management, policy implementation and citizen-focused service delivery, particularly within the tourism, arts and culture sector.
The Lagos State Public Service Accelerator Programme is designed to identify and develop high-potential public officers as future leaders and change agents. The initiative combines structured learning, mentorship, peer engagement and practical problem-solving, with the “Pass It On” component encouraging participants to share acquired knowledge and skills with colleagues and other stakeholders.
