Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled an attempted cattle rustling operation in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, recovering more than 500 cows from the attackers.
The operation followed a distress call from residents reporting cattle rustling at Rugar Mande Kurmin. Acting on the information, troops on Tuesday swiftly mobilised to the suspected withdrawal routes of the terrorists and established blocking positions to prevent their escape.
According to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North West, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the troops engaged the terrorists from multiple positions, forcing them to retreat in disarray and abandon the cattle they had rustled. The recovered animals were subsequently handed over to their respective owners.
Danja described the operation as another demonstration of the commitment of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protecting lives and property while disrupting criminal activities across its area of responsibility. He said the operation also underscored the importance of rapid response to distress calls from local communities.
The task force urged members of the public to continue providing security agencies with timely and relevant information on the activities of terrorists and other criminal elements to support ongoing operations and help restore lasting peace across the Joint Operations Area.
