Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation WHIRL STROKE, have raided a suspected terrorist hideout in Peva, Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, arresting five persons believed to be associates of a notorious bandit.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of Thursday, September 3, followed credible intelligence on the location of the hideout. Troops from Sectors 1 and 3 moved swiftly to the area, but the suspected terrorists reportedly fled after being alerted to the advancing troops.
A subsequent search of the area led to the arrest of five suspects and the recovery of two AK-47 rifle magazines, 46 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a woodland camouflage jacket and jungle hat, four charm vests, and assorted charms.
The arrests and recovered items are expected to provide valuable leads as security forces intensify efforts to track down fleeing members of the criminal group.
