Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 10 civilians in separate operations across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States as part of ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and protect communities in the region.
In Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State on August 19, troops on patrol encountered a terrorist ambush and responded swiftly, forcing the attackers to flee. Five civilians were rescued during the operation and later reunited with their families, while two motorcycles abandoned by the terrorists were recovered.
A day earlier, troops acting on intelligence about three kidnapped victims conducted a search-and-rescue operation in Danko Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State, successfully rescuing all three victims. They were subsequently profiled and handed over to the appropriate authorities.
In Tsafe LGA of Zamfara State, troops also responded to reports of terrorist activity on August 18. Their rapid mobilisation forced the terrorists to flee, leaving behind two captives. The victims, who sustained gunshot injuries during their ordeal, were evacuated to a medical facility for treatment.
The Theatre Command commended the troops for their vigilance and swift response, reaffirming its determination to maintain pressure on terrorist elements across the Joint Operations Area.
Residents were also urged to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations and strengthen the protection of lives and property.
