U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled a limited-edition American passport featuring his portrait as part of activities marking the United States’ 250th anniversary of independence.
Sharing a rendering of the commemorative passport on his Truth Social platform on Friday, Trump wrote, “The U.S.A.’s New Passport, which says, ‘Welcome, but be good!'”
The design features a portrait of Trump seated at his desk alongside his signature, with the text of the Declaration of Independence in the background. The opposite page displays artwork depicting the signing of the Declaration in 1776, accompanied by the inscription “United States of America 250.”
The White House also shared the design, referring to it as the “Patriot Passport.”
The U.S. State Department had earlier announced plans to issue a commemorative passport with custom artwork beginning July 6. Officials previously indicated that the Trump-themed edition would be available only during in-person appointments in Washington and while supplies last.
The unveiling is the latest in a series of moves by the president to leave a personal imprint on government institutions. His administration has also announced plans for his signature to appear on the U.S. one-dollar bill, while his name was temporarily added to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts before a court ordered its removal.
If issued as announced, Trump would become the first sitting U.S. president to appear on an American passport.
