The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has identified 124 Nigerians among foreign nationals scheduled for deportation over criminal convictions.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the department said the individuals were included on its “worst-of-the-worst” criminal register, which features the names and photographs of foreign nationals targeted for removal. No specific timeline was provided for the deportation process.
DHS stated that the affected Nigerians were arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as part of directives issued by President Donald Trump’s administration, although it did not disclose details of the individual offences beyond describing them as serious crimes.
The department said the action forms part of a broader immigration enforcement strategy focused on removing convicted criminal aliens.
“The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst of worst criminal aliens arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Under DHS leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations — starting with the worst of the worst,” the statement said.
Among the Nigerians listed for deportation are Sunday Adediora, Mkpouto Etukudoh, Marcus Unigwe, Olaniyi Ojikutu, Ejike Asiegbunam, Chibundu Anuebunwa, Usman Momoh, Bolarinwa Salau, Olaniyi Akintuyi, Talatu Dada, Abayomi Daramola, Isaiah Okere, Kingsley Ariegwe, Adeyinka Ademokunla and several others contained in the full list released by the authorities.
The development comes amid increased scrutiny of U.S. immigration enforcement policies, with authorities intensifying deportation operations against foreign nationals convicted of criminal offences.
