Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to lead the Nigerian delegation to the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The Vice President arrived in Davos from Conakry, Guinea, where he represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidential inauguration of President Mamadi Doumbouya on Saturday.
He was received on arrival by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yussuf Tuggar; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole; and officials of the Nigerian mission in Switzerland.
Nigeria House Makes Historic Debut
The 2026 WEF marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s global economic diplomacy with the official debut of “Nigeria House Davos.”
For the first time, the Federal Government has established a dedicated sovereign pavilion on the Davos Promenade. The facility, delivered through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), will serve as a central hub for high-level ministerial engagements, investment roundtables, and cultural diplomacy throughout the WEF week.
Investment and Economic Engagements
At the forum, Vice President Shettima is expected to present Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to global political and business leaders. He will also participate in key plenary sessions focusing on the responsible deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and biotechnology.
The Vice President is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with heads of state, chief executives of multinational corporations, and leaders of international development finance institutions. These engagements are aimed at strengthening partnerships aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
Showcasing Nigeria’s Investment Opportunities
Speaking to journalists shortly after the Vice President’s arrival, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Jumoke Oduwole said Nigeria would make a strong case for investment during the launch of Nigeria House Davos, with emphasis on the government’s ongoing economic reforms.
“We will be showcasing four playbooks on President Tinubu’s efforts in re-engineering the Nigerian economy,” she said.
According to her, the presentations will highlight investment opportunities in solid minerals, climate sustainability, agriculture, as well as the creative and digital sectors, targeting investors from across the globe.
