Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate demolition of about 30 buildings allegedly encroaching on the Right of Way of Abuja’s Ring Road 3 corridor.
Wike issued the directive on Thursday during an inspection of ongoing road projects across the FCT.
The affected structures are located along the corridor linking Karsana, Gwarinpa and Kubwa, with officials of the Federal Capital Development Authority saying the buildings obstruct the approved alignment of the major road project.
Wike directed the Department of Development Control to commence the demolition without delay, warning that private developments would not be allowed to obstruct critical infrastructure or undermine the Abuja Master Plan.
The Ring Road 3 project is expected to connect Karsana District with the Outer Northern Expressway and extend towards Airport Road.
