The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that between eight and 10 major road projects across the territory will be completed and commissioned before the end of 2026.
Speaking during an inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects on Monday, Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on the Apo–Karshi and Bwari–Kubwa road corridors, reaffirming the FCT Administration’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure.
The minister dismissed suggestions that political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections would slow project execution, insisting that governance remains a priority under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
According to him, the administration remains focused on fulfilling its promises to residents, noting that President Tinubu’s current tenure runs until May 29, 2027, leaving ample time to complete ongoing developmental projects.
Wike also revealed that the long-delayed Apo–Karshi road project, initially awarded in 2010, is now progressing steadily after the contract was reassigned due to the previous contractor’s poor performance.
He assured contractors of prompt funding to ensure the timely completion of strategic road projects, particularly before the peak of the rainy season.
