First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called for increased awareness and improved access to prevention, testing, treatment and care for people living with viral hepatitis.
In a message commemorating World Hepatitis Day 2026, observed on July 28, the First Lady joined the global community in advocating collective action to eliminate hepatitis as a public health threat.
She said this year’s theme, “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down,” highlights the need to educate the public about the disease while removing barriers that prevent people from accessing life-saving healthcare services.
Tinubu stressed the importance of early diagnosis, vaccination, and treatment, urging Nigerians to support efforts aimed at reducing stigma and expanding access to quality healthcare for those affected by viral hepatitis.
She reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving public health outcomes through sustained awareness campaigns and strengthened healthcare interventions.
