The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has alerted Nigerians about the health risks associated with some Dove-branded cosmetic products recently banned by the European Union.
NAFDAC, in a public alert, announced that European Union authorities have restricted the sale and marketing of Dove Exfoliating Hand Soap (100g) and Dove Deodorant in Brussels, Belgium, due to safety concerns.
The notice, titled “Alert on the Ban of Dove Hand and Deodorant Soap due to Butylphenyl Methylpropional Contamination” and numbered 018/2025, was published on the agency’s official website.
NAFDAC explained that the affected products contain 2-(4-tert-butylbenzyl) propionaldehyde, also known as BMHCA, a substance banned in cosmetic products across the European Union.
