Defending champions D’Tigress have booked their place in the semifinals of the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket after a dominant 83-47 win over Cameroon.
The victory extends Nigeria’s unbeaten streak in Africa to 27 games since 2015 and keeps them on track for a fifth consecutive title, a feat only Senegal has previously matched.
Despite a brief 4-0 start from Cameroon’s Jessica Thomas and Maria Ewodo, Amy Okonkwo sparked Nigeria’s comeback with a free throw, followed by a lead-grabbing jump shot from Elizabeth Balogun. Coach Rena Wakama’s side never looked back, closing the first quarter with a commanding 21-9 lead.
