The Lagos State Government has flagged 176 estates across Eti-Osa, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, and Epe as illegal for lacking mandatory layout approvals.
In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development gave developers a 21-day ultimatum to regularize their documents or face penalties.
The estates were accused of breaching planning regulations, with the government insisting that layout approval is essential for estate development.
Permanent Secretary Oluwole Sotire noted that the developments violate Lagos’ sustainable growth efforts and the T.H.E.M.E.S.+ Agenda, warning that unauthorized estates will not be tolerated.
