FG Targets 50% Land Titling in 10 Years to Boost Collateral Value

The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, has unveiled plans to improve land titling to 50% over the next decade, aiming to unlock land’s economic potential in Nigeria.

Speaking at a workshop on land registration in Lagos, Minister Ahmed Dangiwa noted that over 97% of land in the country remains untitled, restricting its use as loan collateral and in property transactions.

He emphasized the move would modernize land administration, drive wealth creation, and support inclusive growth. States will maintain full control while adopting digital registries, GIS integration, and global best practices—already in place in Lagos.
