The Kano State Police Command has arrested 288 suspected thugs with dangerous weapons during the ongoing by-election across four local government areas.
Spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna confirmed the arrests in a phone interview on Saturday, stating that the suspects were apprehended as of 1pm while allegedly attempting to disrupt the election.
Weapons recovered included one pump-action gun, four locally made guns, cutlasses, sticks, and other dangerous items. Some sponsors of the thugs were also reportedly taken into custody.
