Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development and APC chieftain in Kano State, has rejected the results of the Bagwai/Shanono State Constituency by-election, describing the process as a “charade” tainted by violence, intimidation, and ballot snatching.
Speaking at a press briefing in Kano on Sunday, Ata accused the NNPP of violating a pre-election peace pact by allegedly importing armed thugs from neighbouring states and even countries to manipulate the vote.
“In the name of political rallies, NNPP brought in thugs who infiltrated all wards in Bagwai/Shanono and launched attacks on opposition supporters, particularly those of the APC,” he claimed.
Ata called for the immediate cancellation of the election, citing a breach of electoral integrity and failure to uphold democratic standards.
