The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has hinted at plans to review the salaries of political office holders, calling current figures outdated and unrealistic.
RMAFC Chairman, Mohammed Shehu, revealed that President Tinubu earns N1.5m monthly, while ministers earn less than N1m — rates unchanged since 2008. He described this as unfair, especially when some agency heads earn 10–20 times more than top political leaders.
However, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has strongly opposed the move, citing worsening inequality and hidden government perks.
RMAFC clarified that it only reviews salaries for political, judicial, and legislative office holders — not minimum wage or civil service pay.
