The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled a supplementary election for Thursday, August 21, in Kaura-Namoda South Constituency, Zamfara State.
This follows the declaration of last Saturday’s by-election as inconclusive by the Returning Officer, Prof. Lawal Sa’adu of the Federal University Gusau.
He explained that the vote margin between the leading candidates was smaller than the number of collected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in polling units where elections were cancelled, prompting the need for a supplementary poll.
A total of 5,446 voters are registered in the affected units, with 3,265 PVCs collected.
