Dangote, Mitsui Chemicals Partner on Petrochemical Production in Nigeria

Dangote Industries has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals to establish a joint venture for petrochemical production in Nigeria. The deal will tap into feedstock from Dangote’s 650,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Lagos.

According to Mitsui Chemicals, the partnership will involve transferring technology for the production of resins and fertilisers, leveraging Mitsui’s global expertise. The collaboration aims to boost regional industry and improve living standards across African nations.

The agreement was signed during the Tokyo International Conference on African Development in Yokohama, with AAIC Holdings acting as facilitator to encourage wider Japanese investment in Africa’s petrochemical sector.

This marks a strategic move by Dangote to deepen its presence in the petrochemical industry and expand its footprint across West Africa.
