Lagos CP of Police calls for calm after Balogun Market clash

A clash between groups of hoodlums and miscreants broke out in the early hours of today at Balogun Market in Lagos.

According to a statement from the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, the altercation led to the fatal stabbing of Sodiq Ibrahim, a native of Kogi State, by Ebuka Adindu from Abia State. Following the attack, Ebuka reportedly stabbed himself in the shoulder and lost consciousness. He is currently under police custody and receiving treatment at a hospital.

The Commissioner confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway and that Ebuka will face prosecution once he is discharged.

The police emphasized that the incident was not a tribal conflict but a fight among miscreants operating in the market area.

CP Jimoh, who assured the public that normalcy has been fully restored, urged traders and residents on Lagos Island and across the state to continue their daily activities without fear or concern.
