Jannik Sinner produced a stunning comeback to defeat Alexander Zverev 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 and claim the Vienna Open title on Sunday, capturing his fourth trophy of the 2025 season.

The Italian star, who dropped his first set of the tournament in the final, fought back impressively to secure his 22nd career title and extend his winning streak on indoor hard courts to 21 matches. The triumph also marked Sinner’s second victory in Vienna, following his 2023 success at the same event.

Top seed Sinner was pushed hard by world number three Zverev, who broke early to take the opening set. “It was such a difficult start in this final for me,” Sinner admitted. “I went a break down, had some chances in the first set but couldn’t use them. He was serving very well, but I just tried to stay strong mentally and play my best tennis when it mattered.”

The 24-year-old responded by racing to a 3-0 lead in the second set and levelling the match, before an intense decider saw both players trade powerful baseline exchanges. Despite battling a thigh issue, Sinner kept up the pressure and finally broke Zverev at 5-all with a blistering backhand winner before serving out the match.

A routine hold sealed the victory, adding another milestone to Sinner’s impressive 2025 campaign, which already includes titles at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and Beijing.

“The third set was a bit of a rollercoaster, but I was feeling the ball very well at times, so I tried to push,” Sinner said. “I’m very happy, of course, to win another title. It’s very special.”

The win further cements Sinner’s position among the elite of men’s tennis as he heads into the Paris Masters with strong momentum.
