Wike arrives in Dubai for 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit, Mayors’ Forum

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to participate in the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum (2025APCS), scheduled to hold this week.

Wike’s arrival was confirmed in a statement released on Monday in Dubai by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.

According to the statement, the Minister departed Abuja on Sunday and arrived in Dubai at about 4:00 a.m. on Monday, where he was received by Nigeria’s Consul General in Dubai, Ambassador Zayyanu Ibrahim, along with officials from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) who had arrived earlier.

Members of the FCTA delegation include Richard Yunana Dauda, Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA); Benedict Daudu, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Legal and Multilateral Cooperation; Mukhtar Galadima, Director of Development Control; Chuks Udeh, Director of Engineering Services; and Sani Daura, Director of Protocol.

During the summit, scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Wike is expected to lead a discussion panel where he will speak on developments within the FCT and engage with mayors and city leaders from across the world.

Organisers of the summit stated that the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit seeks to strengthen long-term trade, investment, and cooperation among cities and businesses across the Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.

The event, initiated by the Brisbane City Council in Australia, is regarded as one of the most inclusive global gatherings of mayors, city administrators, business executives, and young professionals, aimed at sharing ideas on sustainable urban development and innovation.
