The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed a viral message circulating across social media claiming that all schools in Nigeria have been directed to shut down from November 24, 2025.
In a statement issued on November 22, 2025, and signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Borivowo Folasade, the Ministry described the message as false, misleading, and not traceable to any government or security agency.
According to the Ministry, the alleged directive did not originate from the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, any State Ministry of Education, or any recognised security institution.
The Ministry urged the public to rely strictly on verified announcements issued through official government channels, including:
- The Federal Government
- The Federal Ministry of Education
- State Governments and State Ministries of Education
- Recognised security agencies
It further advised Nigerians to ignore and refrain from sharing advisories or notices from unofficial sources. The Ministry also encouraged citizens to always verify the authenticity of information before circulating it, emphasizing that this is necessary to curb the spread of misinformation.
