Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully rescued 12 teenage girls abducted by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Mussa District, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
The Nigerian Army confirmed the operation on Sunday through an official statement on its X (formerly Twitter) handle.
According to the statement, the girls were freed on Saturday, 29 November, following a swift, intelligence-driven operation conducted by troops operating in the southern Borno axis.
Rescued Girls Undergoing Care
The Army disclosed that the victims—aged 15 to 20 years—were kidnapped on 23 November while harvesting crops on their family farmlands.
Following their rescue, they have been taken to a secure military facility where they are receiving:
- Comprehensive medical care
- Psychological support
- Operational debriefing
They will be formally reunited with their families after these processes are completed. The statement noted that the rescue has brought “immense relief” to the affected community, which had been living in fear since the abduction.

Military Commends Troops and Local Support
The Military High Command praised the troops for their swift and courageous action. It also acknowledged the critical contributions of security stakeholders and local informants whose timely intelligence enabled the rescue.
The statement further emphasized that troops are continuing operations across southern Borno to track down ISWAP remnants, prevent further attacks, and protect civilians.
The Army urged communities to maintain cooperation by providing credible and timely information, stressing that collaboration remains vital to defeating terrorism and restoring lasting peace.
