The Federal Government has introduced three transformative national education policies aimed at strengthening learning outcomes, protecting students, and modernising Nigeria’s educational ecosystem. The policies unveiled in Abuja include:
- National Teachers Policy
- Guidelines Against Drug and Substance Use in Schools
- National Policy on Almajiri Education
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said the reforms are designed to elevate teaching standards, safeguard children from drug abuse, integrate Almajiri learners into the formal education system, and deliver measurable improvements across communities — all in alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad Said, stressed that the success of these policies now depends on decisive action from state governments.
“The era of out-of-school Almajiri children is over if states act decisively,” she declared.
Education stakeholders, development partners, and traditional rulers at the launch pledged full support for implementation. The Ministry also committed to stringent monitoring, transparency mechanisms, and evidence-based execution to ensure the reforms achieve real impact.
The rollout marks a major national push to transform the education sector at both federal and state levels.
